Stephanie Plum Tour of Trenton

May 15, 2004

As you may know, Janet Evanovich is the author of a series of very funny books about a female bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum. The series is set in the Trenton area and especially Chambersburg (the Burg), a predominately Italian section of the city.

The Trenton Historical Society conducted a fundraiser: "Stephanie Plum's Trenton by the Numbers" and Jane and I and roughly 100 other people participated.

Buses took us to visit some of Stephanie's hang outs and we saw some of her friends and associates!

More of the story is in the pictures below.

Plum Tour The tour started at the Masonic Temple on Barrack Street. Plum Tour Participants registered and had a continental breakfast in the Masonic Temple before the tour started.
Plum Tour Most of the tour guides wore plum colored shirts. Plum Tour Our first stop was a bail bonds place.
Plum Tour Serious business. Plum Tour Vinnie and Connie started going at it.
Plum Tour Still going at it. Something about a duck! Plum Tour Stephanie gets lots of clues at funeral parlors.
Plum Tour Cathie "D" (Mercer County Clerk), Chiacchio (funeral director), and one of the historical society members. Plum Tour Actually, it's Grandma Mazur whose social life centers on funerals!
Plum Tour Grandma, Vinnie, and Connie discuss the deceased. Plum Tour Being laid to rest is a very famous but very short person.
Plum Tour The Plum residence in the Burg. There's Vinnie. He told me that Stephanie was caught for B&E last night and he was letting her cool her heels for a few hours before posting bail. Plum Tour As usual, Papa Plum tries to ignore what's going on by reading the paper.
Plum Tour Whenever there are guests in the Burg, a cake is served. Here, Mama Plum serves pineapple upsidedown cake. Yummy! Plum Tour There are many fine Italian restaurants in the Burg.
Plum Tour We had lunch at Marsilio's in the Burg. Plum Tour Jane and others enjoying lunch.
Plum Tour Lula showed up at lunch. Here she is with Connie and Grandma. Plum Tour Vinnie and Bobbie V. (our host for lunch, thanks!).
Plum Tour Where Stephanie gets her hair done? Plum Tour Seems to be a long wait for a perm!
Plum Tour Stephanie! I guess Vinnie finally posted bail. Plum Tour Morelli!
Plum Tour Of course, we all know Stephanie thinks Joe has a nice ass! Plum Tour Does Stephanie have some doughnuts from the Italian Peoples Bakery in that bag? Those jeans will be getting tighter.
Plum Tour Is Joe trying to make Stephanie jealous with Jane? Plum Tour Saint Joachim's Church, one of the many catholic churches in the Burg.
Plum Tour Lt. Joe Juniak of the Trenton Police Department explains that life is funnier than fiction! Plum Tour Ranger cruised by while we were at the police station.
Plum Tour Janet Evanovich donated two horses to the Trenton Police Department. This one is named Morelli. Plum Tour And this horse is named Ranger.
Plum Tour Joe Juniak in the lobby of the police station where the "skips" are brought by the bounty hunters. Plum Tour The roll call room at the police station.
