It's Almost Summer Bike Ride X

On June 23, 2007 we had an It's Almost Summer Bike Ride X on the path along the D&R feeder canal from Washington's Crossing to Bulls Island and back. We ate lunch at the Lambertville Station Pub on the way back.

The ride was a 27 mile round trip.

We had a good crowd this year: Ed Witten, IAS faculty; Chiara Nappi, physics faculty; Norm Jarosik, research physicist; physics grad students: Justin Brown, Alex Dahlen, Hoan Bui Dang, Lewis Hyatt, Lu Li, Glen Nixon, Sasha Solovyov, geosciences grad student and Lewis' girlfriend, Laura Harrington, and me, Ed Groth, physics faculty.

Almost Summer Ride We finally got underway. Here are Chiara, (a random walker), Sasha, Hoan, Ed, and Alex riding towards Lambertville. Almost Summer Ride We stopped about a mile south of Lambertville, and walked out on the wing dam in the Delaware River. Sasha (partly), Norm, Alex, Ed, Lu, Laura, and Lewis.
Almost Summer Ride The rest of the group leaves while Alex and Hoan continue studying the river. Almost Summer Ride They might be wondering if they can recover Ed's hat blown off by a strong wind. It's the object in the middle of the picture. We gave up on the hat. It's a Red Sox hat, so now Ed has an excuse to go to Fenway the next time he's in Boston.

Almost Summer Ride We walked across the footbridge to Lumberville, PA. Here are Norm, Sasha (red helmet), Lu, Justin, Alex, Laura, Lewis, Glen, and Hoan. Almost Summer Ride A motorboat insisted on making noise!
Almost Summer Ride We're back in Lambertville after 20 miles. That's the bridge to New Hope, PA. Lewis and Laura are locking the bikes in front of the Lambertville Station Pub. Almost Summer Ride Still trying to lock up. Alex, Lewis, Hoan, Sasha, Lu, and Glen. We had hoped to eat outside, but our group of 12 was too big. Instead we went inside the pub and filled up two booths!
